Hi there Sweetie! Well, up here in the north country the snow is a-meltin'! Should have temps in the 40's the next week, and rain....if you have a white Christmas in Guatemala, something is wrong with this picture!

So nice to hear your voice this morning....glad everything is ok and things are going well. It was so thoughtful of you to call! I hope you're writing in your journal - even just notes of things that happen - feelings you have so that you can put them to words later on. It's hard to believe you are 10 days into your trip already....I'm sure it's going fast for you. You have grown so much in the last days....and really in the last two years.

As I said on the phone, I would love for you to make the trek to see the ruins....who knows when you will be in Guatemala again. I remember not wanting to go see ruins in Peru - basically for the same reason -the really long bus rides-but they made such an impression on me that I still remember them. We passed the time by singing...of course - none of us knew the words to the songs, but the Peruvians, our hosts, had a blast singing for hours on end. My choice was to sit close to the person who sang on key...but I wasn't always that lucky!

We're going to G-Joans soon - we'll celebrate with her....then on Thursday we are going back to her house for a celebration with Anne and Ken. All of this is so different without you here, but I guess that's what happens when you grow up and take on the world. Friday, we're having the usual Thanksgiving day crowd here for a turkey dinner. I guess with Amanda not doing so well, Mark has called everyone to gather together - and with my fancy new stove (and my new food processor - oh yeah!) we offered to host it. On Sunday we will leave early to drive Kia to Springfield, MA for his board meeting - we'll stay overnight and come back on New Year's Eve ... just in time for parties ;-)

Looking forward to hearing from you again. I am glad you have the time to listen to yourself...during the academic year you get going so fast it is difficult to take time just for introspection.

Con carino,
mamamapapa
